Ayurveda means "the knowledge (or science) of life" which also translates as "living in harmony with the natural world". Ayurvedic yoga takes us a step closer to living in harmony with the natural world that surrounds us. Learn ways to stay healthy and balanced through the seasonal changes and the changes our bodies go through throughout our lives.

Learn more about yourself and how to stay balanced, healthy & happy no matter how chaotic your world might be. In an Ayurvedic Yoga Consultation you will discover your unique dosha balance (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and how to keep it in balance through a customized yoga sequence that is pacifying for your dosha and your individual needs.

As Deepak Chopra, Ayurvedic Doctor and Author of the well known book
Ageless Body, Timeless Mind: The Quantum Alternative to Growing Old says "Just as every snowflake is unique in shape and form, every human has their own blueprint. It’s like a map of the body that’s made up of an infinite variety of shapes, behaviors, emotions, and appearances. In Ayurveda, the five elements that are found in all living things—ether, air, fire, water, and earth—are the building blocks of life. While this foundation unites all humans, the manifestation of those elements through the doshas is what gives rise to our differences. How the three doshas appear, and in what proportion, is what makes each of us unique."

What are the Doshas?

The 3 Doshas
In response to weather, conditions, and stress. The habits—good or bad—that you create are manifestations of your dosha. You may be inclined to go a bit overboard on ice cream, spend too much time talking on the phone late at night, or neglect sleep when you need it most.

Pitta: Consisting of Water and Fire, people who have a strong pitta constitution tend to run warm, even hot, have ravenous appetites, oily skin and hair. They are sharp witted, driven, independent, their go-to emotion when stressed is anger, and they have a bright light shining through them.

Vata: Consisting of Air and Either, people with a strong vata constitution tend to always be cold, especially cold hands and feet! They tend to be sensitive, creative, flighty, easily distracted, and rarely finish a task they started. They tend to have dry skin and hair, finicky appetites, and when stressed they feel overwhelmed

Kapha: Consisting of Water and Earth, people with a strong kapha constitution tend to be chilly and especially loath cool, damp weather. They move, talk and eat slowly where pitta and vata tend to be fast moving. Although slow, kapha's have the greatest endurance of all the doshas and can continue on long after vata and pitta have burned out or lost patience. They tend to have oily skin and hair, are generally difficult to stress as their relaxed and happy nature is strong.

Structure of our time together:
  • Before we meet, you will be given an Ayurvedic Questionnaire to find out what your primary dosha is, and the exact balance you have between all 3 doshas.
  • Liza will cusomize a yoga practice for you that will work in harmony with your dosha, and your possible limitations. Remember, yoga is not about being flexible or bendy, it's about becoming present to attain serenity and total freedom from suffering. Every body can practice yoga, if you can breathe, you can practice.
  • It's time to get together! We set a date and time to meet. Meetings are done in private at Buddhaful Yoga Studio, located inside the Fullerton Inn, Main Street in Chester, VT and generally take anywhere between an hour to 90 minutes. During this time we will go over what your dosha reading is, what it means for you, how you can live in harmony with your dosha through simple techniques that can be plugged into your every day life, and of course, through yoga!
  • Liza will lead you through your customized yoga practice. This is a wonderful time to just connect with the yoga, and allow it's affects to subtly work on your body, mind and emotional state.
  • You will have time to ask questions and make tweeks to your yoga practice if need be. Remember, this is for you! We have to work together to make it as perfect as possible for you and where you are at in this moment in time. 5 years from now you might be in a completely different place. Our goal together is to make a positive difference now, and in doing so we must accept where we are at now, even if it isn't where we would like to be, that's why we are doing to work to make a change.

Your Ayurvedic Yoga Consultation is meant to enhance your life and help you get more in tune with yourself and stay balanced throughout the changes we face in our world today. Liza Eaton is not an Ayurvedic Doctor, she is a Yoga Teacher who has studied yoga's sister science of Ayurveda and how to integrate it into yoga at Kripalu School of Yoga and Health.

Please feel free to connect! You are welcome to call any time to gather more information to see if any of the practices I offer could be a good fit for you. You can reach me by phone at (802)875-2868 or by email eaton.liza@gmail.com
