A  NOTE  FROM  LIZA
I still remember the dimly lit room on the 4th floor of a very old building in the heart of downtown Brattleboro, VT. I remember our teacher, Pam, sitting on a cushion with her legs perfectly folded into the base of the cushion, and her calm voice guiding us to go inward, to center, to sit. I'll never forget how safe, relieved, and inspired I felt in that moment. I was 15 at the time, and it was the beginning of my journey with yoga.

In college I brought 1 yoga DVD with me by Rainbeau Mars. I'd practice it a couple times a week in my tiny dorm room. Luckily my roommate was very supportive, and she  enjoyed the empowering girl talk that Rainbeau Mars dished out.  At the time I felt lost in a world of big dreams, overwhelming expectations, and scary truths of a world I thought I knew. Of a self I thought I knew.

I never expected to get so passionately involved in yoga. Perhaps it was the other way around; that yoga got passionately involved in me! The more I studied and practiced, the more I found. Over time I felt it was the most important thing I could do with my time and energy.

A month after my college graduation my mom and I took a 200 hour yoga teacher training together. It took a year to finish. Now I realize that we are never "finished". Yoga is not something we learn, get certified in and then it's over. The journey is continual. We are always students of this Universe, it's living creatures, plants, oceans, deserts, mountains, treasures. Yoga is one of the Universe's powerful and sacred treasures, and it is a pure gift to be able to live it, share it, teach it and receive it.

A yoga teacher once said to me "yoga is about being free."  When we practice yoga, on the mat or off, we practice being free. My deepest goal is to promote that freedom for everyone, on this Earth, and in my classes and trainings.

Loka Samasta Sukhino Bhavantu ~
May we be happy and free, and my life be a giving to this happiness and freedom for all.  Thank you for reading! Blessings, love and light,
Liza Eaton ~ Satya Prakash
