What is Kundalini Yoga? Kundalini yoga (as taught by Yogi Bhajan) is a practice that helps us quickly heal, connect with out inner truth & become fully aware or "awake". When the Buddha was asked how to find enlightenment he said 3 things, "attention, attention, attention." When we bring our attention/awareness into the picture, we experience the true essences of life, that which are unkown until we become fully awake to enjoy them. Kundalini yoga is known for slowing & even reversing the aging process, bringing the whole body/mind into balance quickly while also enlivening the spirit & establishing a deeper meaning of self. In a typical class we practice yoga postures, breath techniques, meditations, drishdi, mantra & mudra. There is plenty of room in this practice to go deeply if you are an advanced practitioner & beginners will find it very accessible too.
What is Hatha Yoga? Hatha yoga is a practice that gets us out of our minds and into our bodies. Hatha yoga and kundalini yoga have the same goals, awareness & enlightenment, they simply go about it slightly differently. At Buddhaful Yoga we offer a kripalu yoga style that is about listening to your body & deepening that inner voice that knows what's best for us. Hatha yoga is an all around "feel good" yoga that encourages good health & a deeper mind-body connection. In a typical class like the Adaptive Chair Yoga Class we practice yoga postures, breathing, drishdi & meditation. Traditionally we link these 4 pieces together to create a flowing, meditative practice that releases stress, builds strength & brings an elevated sense of being. There is plenty of room in this practice to go deeply if you are an advanced practitioner & beginners will find it very accessible too. Restorative Yoga is also in the hatha tradition.
GENTLE FLOW KUNDALINI: A gentle kundalini yoga class that incorporates breath, postures, mudra & meditation throughout the whole practice. Kundalini Yoga is the yoga of awareness. In this class we practice ancient yogic sets called "kriyas" that date back over 5,000 years ago. These kriyas are taught the same now as they were to the Royal populations thousands of years ago. In this class we are not making up sequences as we go, rather we are following an ancient text of postures that help to slow the aging process, expand lung capacity, awaken intuition, encourage deep healing & build strength inside & out. How deeply are you willing to go inward? Life can be an adventure & we often don't realize just how interesting we are until we really look inside. We can travel the world & learn from every mountain, tree, city & person we meet, or we can take a trip inside & find the gems that live within. Wonderful for beginners & all levels welcome. You will go at your own pace.
STRENGTH BUILDING VINYASA WITH OPTIONAL WEIGHTS: Build bone density, upper body strength as well as overall strength, endurance, resilience, flexibility & reduce stress. In this class we are linking breath to movement & systematically weaving extra strength building into our yoga flow. This class is suitable for anyone who can breathe and get up and down off the floor without help. We practice yoga postures, vinyasas & breathing techniques that help develop strength in the entire body (core, legs, arms, joints, you name it!). In certain yoga poses we add 1 to 2 pound weights for extra upper body strength & bone density development. Encourage yourself to own this body, mind & state of well being! No experience necessary. Start where you are now & go at your own pace.
STRENGTH BUILDING ADAPTIVE CHAIR YOGA : This is a strength building yoga class in the hatha tradition for anyone looking to build bone density, physical strength, flexibility & overall endurance. Come as you are & do what you can. Use a chair, yoga mat, or both! Chair yoga is a wonderful way to keep your body strong & keep your mind agile. The more flexible & strong we can remain, the less we tend to age. In this class we practice yoga postures that keep the body strong & that encourage bone growth & flexibility We also link breath & movement together in order to release stress & stay focused. Welcome to everyone.

Sign up for a Series! Each class is rooted in a compassionate & mediative flow that links breath & movement together. In addition, you are working on a specific theme with powerful, guided meditations & mantras to help you achieve your intentions for yourself. When practiced in a group, the benefits of kundalini yoga are multiplied by the number of people present. Enjoy the opportunity to strengthen your relationship with yourself & your community.
